About Us
Acorn
Furniture was started in 1998 with the ‘unique selling point’
of being able to take a much-loved tree in someone’s garden
and return it to the owner as a beautiful piece of furniture. The
piece is designed as a one-off, in conjunction with the customer,
using ‘photo realistic’ pictures as an aid to visualising
the design. The tree is carefully removed, planked and kiln dried
before being built into a potential family heirloom. The customers
are of course welcome to visit the workshop and follow the process
as carefully as they wish.
The majority of people requiring bespoke
furniture do not necessarily have an appropriate tree that has to
be felled so of course we can usually supply timber from our own
stocks of British hardwoods.
The side of the business that has grown
fastest is dedicated tree work and so this is now done under the
trading name of Acorn ArborCare. We will explore with the customer
what is needed, and then plan the best way to achieve these goals
while leaving the trees healthy, safer, and better looking than
they were before. A written quotation is provided that details the
work to be done and, for most tasks, a fixed price for doing it.
We will leave or remove the logs and chippings as required and tidy
up carefully when the tree work is complete.
We do specialise in work on protected
trees and the necessary liaison with the Council Tree Officers needed
before a protected tree can be worked on at all.
