Do you need more light in your garden?

Raising the crown of the tree, possibly combined with a minor crown thin and reduction will allow more light into the garden while leaving the tree healthy, attractive, and safer than it was before. (see horror pictures on procedures page for how not to do it.)

Are there branches coming too close to the house?

Branches growing close to houses can be worrying. However, the answer is not always to remove the tree entirely. A crown raise, or a reduction in the length of the lower branches can give the tree room to grow, and reduce the risk of damage to the house.

Does the tree have branches that are rubbing, diseased, damaged or even dead?

Damaged branches are likely to die soon after they are damaged, or will continue to grow with a much weaker structure than before. Removing dead branches with the correct pruning techniques will enable the tree to heal the wound more quickly, and prevent the decay from spreading.

Is the crown of the tree just too dense?

Thinning the crown can make a great difference to the size and shape of a tree, and allow more light to reach the ground around it.

Do you have a large tree that needs removing from a small place?

A large tree in a small garden can be a nightmare. Dismantling the tree in a safe manner, will ensure the garden gets the maximum amount of light.

Does the hedge need reducing?

A large hedge can be difficult to manage. Reducing the height of the hedge makes it easier to maintain.
