This Parish Church had a need for somewhere to put the wedding kneeler as well as for general storage. Other requirements were to match other pieces of furniture in height and to not need dusting underneath! The pictures show the cabinet outside the church building during delivery, inside in its current location, and finally storing the wedding kneeler as intended. "Push to open" catches have been used to avoid the need for door handles.
This is a current project, so only design pictures so far. I have been asked for beautiful and uplifting furniture appropriate to the church building and the existing furniture that is being retained. The chairs are an orange/brown and their new piano is made in cherry wood. I will make the altar, credence table, lectern and bench in cherry to match.
I first met Ruth when she was seven years old and, it seems, her husband not long afterwards! When he recently asked me to make a memorial to Ruth, I felt honoured and challenged. This is the prototype, the final one will be made from pear wood and will hang in St. Paul's, Boughton, Chester.
This is not church furniture in an normally accepted sense. My commission was to make a number of Bible Stands in English Oak that could be folded flat and assembled without the aid of a screwdriver. These are to go with Victorian Family Bibles that have been restored and are being sent to my customer's clients in north America.
