The curved top oak doors we made to replace old, well made, softwood originals that had been abused; one nailed shut and the other lost! The metal work is new but made to match the originals.

I was asked to make two new front doors to improve appearance, security and natural light for this property in Bebington, Wirral. The pictures show the property, the installed doors and then some of the process of making and rebating the frames.

This commission was for a door and frame to match the curved top doors I had made previously in Anglesey. The colours are different because the curved doors are protected by a porch and are oiled; this door is exposed to the full force of the weather and is treated with Sikkens "light oak" HLS and will need to be recoated at least every 18 months to keep it looking smart.

These oak gates are an unusual design but match the softwood originals that had falled apart. We galvanised and reused the original hinges.

These oak gates were to match oak originals in Hartford that seemed to have been neglected for most of their 100 years of service. The challenges were the very large, ornate tops to the posts and to match a curved desgin while making the access significantly wider. Also notice the self closing hinges that work when the gates open in or out but do not have springs!
