Hi-fi Cabinet and CD Rack

Nick putting oil onto wooden chairs

"Just a short note to say how pleased we are with the hi-fi cabinet and the CD rack you made for us. They both look fabulous and are now the main feature in our room. Your customer focused service is a real credit to your business. We were able to develop our own ideas and be part of each stage of the design and development process. You took the time to check our views on how to solve some of the challenges and at all stages we had the feeling of involvement as the pieces of furniture came together. We can recommend you to anybody who is looking for a custom made piece of furniture and especially to those customers who like to be involved in the design and whole process."

Church Altar

"I was impressed by Nick's obvious enthusiasm and by the standard of his work and the materials he was able to show me. The design he produced was exactly what I was looking for. The price quoted was within budget and therefore I had no hesitation in placing the order. The commission was executed with the minimum of delay, using materials of the very best quality and was constructed with craftsmanship of the highest order. Finally, the altar was successfully delivered and installed, despite a difficult encounter with an awkward flight of stairs! Well done Nick and his determined and very able assistant!"
Rev. Peter Allsworth, St. Margaret's Church, Bodelwydden (The Marble Church)

The Blessed Sacrament Chapel at St.David's Catholic Church, Mold

"The late Canon James Webb wished to bring the reserved sacramental Host nearer to the people by creating a space where people could reflect and pray in the presence of Christ. The starting point for the project was the work of a local sculptor. As the commission grew Canon Webb resolved to use not only the skills of local artists but materials of significance to the area. Nick Lumb of Acorn Furniture was approached to create flooring and furniture which would enhance the Chapel.

Welsh Oak was chosen and (nearly) all items, including the floor, were crafted from the wood of a single tree from an estate at Bala. Working closely with the Canon, Nick Lumb created the deceptively simple and yet timeless designs of the benches and kneelers. Their shapes show off the beauty of the wood most effectively.

The finished project is testament to the marrying of local artistry and the vision of a man for whom the sense of spirituality is inextricably linked to good design."
Carole Philpot, St.David's Catholic Church, Mold
