This television stand combined a desirefor a piece made in waney edged oak with the need to allow access to the electrical and TV arial sockets. The pictures show 'before' and 'after', followed by more detail of the piece itself taken in the workshop.
All five coffee tables were made from slices cut from the end of the log before it was planked. As the family ride horses, we decided to make the legs with hooves! The last slice fell in two so we made a feature of the repair instead of hiding it.
This table came with the legs attached by screws through the top and the rails screwed onto the side of the legs. My job was to dismantle it, flatten the top and use the beautiful burr elm to remake the table with mortice and tennon joints.
This was made from some large oak planks my customers had been given. They needed some more book storage and like waney edged furniture.
This commission came from friends who had seen similar legs on another table I had made but really wanted waney edges on the top.
This table and benches were commissioned by tree surgery customers who had an oak tree fail in a storm. They were to be made from the oak tree, have character and be finished to a high standard.
