Doors and Gates
Acorn Furniture has extensive experience of handcrafting beautiful doors and gates, which are created to fit specific measurements and design requirements.
Doors
Curve-Topped Oak Doors
These curve-topped oak doors were made to replace the old softwood originals that had weathered over time. The metal work is new but was made to match the originals.
Exterior Door
This door was made to fit the same property as the curve-topped doors above. The colours are different because the curve-topped doors are oiled and are protected by a porch. This door is exposed to the full force of the elements and it treated with Sikkens Light Oak HLS and will need to be recoated at least every 18 months to retain its appearance.
Glazed Front Doors
Acorn Furniture was commissioned to make two new front doors that would improve appearance, security and provide more natural light for this home in Bebington, Wirral.
Gates
Five Bar Oak Gates
These gates were more unusual than they look: the left had post could not be sunk into the ground like the right and so was carved to exactly fit the stone wall and then bolted to it.
Oak Gates
These oak gates are unusual in design but match the softwood originals that had fallen apart. The original hinges were galvanised and reused.
Ornate Oak Gates
These oak gates were made to replace the original gates that had stood for 100 years. The commission was challenging due to the size and weight, the ornate tops to the posts and the need to match a curved design whilst making the access significantly wider. Notice the self-closing hinges that work when the gates open in or out that do not have springs.
Gothic Arched Gate
This gate was made for a location with many similar shaped arches and so fitted in perfectly.
